Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action this week:
• Adopted the Act 172 ordinance that provides tax credits for volunteer first responders.
• Tabled Joe Hutta’s proposal to update plumbing fixtures at the Grove Park bathroom at a cost of $8,980.
• Agreed to purchase 100 manhole inserts at a cost of $4,300 as part of the inflow and infiltration study.
• Approved a three-year Dual Temp Planned Maintenance agreement at the rate of $15,855 per year.
• Tabled selling/bidding the roughly 8,235.6-square-foot triangle piece of property on Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard in front of the Checkered Flag.
• Adopted an ordinance to ban parking on the north side of Bridge Street, from Second to Union Street, and about 20 feet west of Union, which would eliminate three parking spaces.
• Approved a $250 donation to the United Veterans Organization for Memorial Services.
• Agreed to hold the Senior Games May 1-9, using the Rec Center and Baer Memorial Field.
• Approved the L.E.A.F. Coaster Derby, closing Beaver Run Road from Coal Street to the middle school parking lot.
• Agreed to put the L&P Expedition out for bid.
• Tabled consideration on right of way request from Lehighton Booster Club for the installation of Internet at the field house.
