Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council recently approved the following:
• Final payment in the amount of $31,890 for the Iron/Bridge street circuit upgrade project.
• Jim Thorpe River Sports letter of credit reduction request in the amount of $39,968, plus the 10 percent contingency in the amount of $37,405.
• Maintaining the $5,000 escrow for Jim Thorpe River Sports Land Development until punch list items are completed; approved a request from Jerry McAward on plan modifications to the fencing privacy screening.
• Municibid high bid for the fire department’s 1990 Ford F-350 to Jared Cornell in the amount of $9,200.
• Applying for a Phase II Main Street Assessment — Smart Growth Grant in the amount of $5,000.
• Steve Ebbert to serve on the borough’s civil service commission.
• Banners across Routes 209 and 902 for the Lehighton Downtown Initiative Farmers Market and Rocktoberfest.
• Approved fire police for the Carbon County Veterans Parade on Nov. 11, with a rain date of Nov. 18, to be held in Lansford.
• Approved fire police for Oriolesfest tonight through June 3 at request of Mahoning Township.
• Rejected the previous bid acceptance from New Enterprise and Hanson Aggregates for not bidding correctly on road material and aggregate bid awards.
