Lehighton campus reopens after bomb scare leads to lockdown
A bomb scare called in resulted in St. Luke’s Lehighton Campus being under lockdown for four hours on Sunday.
Borough police Chief Brian Biechy alluded to the situation at Monday’s borough council meeting, at which time he said he plans to meet with St. Luke’s.
After the meeting, Biechy told a reporter that the police department received a call for a bomb scare.
The hospital went into lockdown at 10:40 a.m., and the lockdown was lifted at 2:40 p.m.
Biechy said that Pennsylvania State Police arrived on scene with their bomb dogs, “and deemed it all safe.”
There were no injuries, Biechy said.
Biechy said the incident remains under investigation.
“We’re looking at where the call came from,” he said.
