  • Empty

The Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1, Lehighton, earlier this month donated thousands of dollars to Carbon County programs. Company members, seated, from left, Ren Wentz, Jim Morris and Lonnie Armbruster presented $5,000 to the Carbon County Commissioners, back, from left, Thomas J. Gerhard, Wayne Nothstein and William O’Gurek, for use in the county’s Emergency Management Agency. The firefighters also donated $1,000 to the Carbon County Veterans Day Parade and $2,500 each to the Carbon County Animal Shelter and Carbon County Friends of Animals. Armbruster said the funds were generated through small games of chance at the company’s social quarters. “We part with 60 percent of our profits and give it out to the community. We keep it local, so we try to help others as much as we can,” he said. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
