Lehighton Leos visit veterans at The Summit
The Lehighton Area Leo Club visited veterans at The Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton to help them memorialize their fellow comrades who have fought and lost their lives for our country.
The Leos gave each Veteran a basket filled with goodies for them to enjoy.
“I enjoyed listening to the stories when these men and women were in the service” said Leo Jon Ahner. Resident Ron Austin is a veteran of the Army and served as an officer during the Vietnam war.
His wife, Rosemarie, who was visiting her husband, is also an Army veteran. She served during the Cuban missile crisis.
She said women’s jobs were very meaningful.
Rosemarie shared a memory about being chosen from her platoon to raise and take down The Great Garrison Flag. Ron said, “Everyone who graduates high school should join the armed forces. It is the best thing to do to serve our great country.”
