Bethany EC Church

This Week at Lehighton Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, Blakeslee Boulevard, Lehighton 5 a.m.

Saturday: Second Blessings Clothing Ministry, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sunday: Pastor Tim Ream, Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, Coffee & Conversation 10:15-10:45 a.m., worship service 10:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m. Kathy Graver Memorial Lunch.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Kevin McGraw. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Foundations Class: Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

St. John’s

St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Drive W., Lehighton

Worship: Sunday, 9 a.m. Winter Walks with Jesus Faith Formation in family room after worship.

Sanctuary Choir: Practice for 15 minutes on Sunday following the worship service in the music room.

Ash Wednesday Worship with Ashes and Holy Communion, Feb. 26, 7 p.m.

Trinity highlights

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with allergy issues. Included during this time will be “Farewell to Alleluia,” in the tradition of ancient church Bishop Ambrose. Children in attendance gather Alleluia letters and place them in a trunk at the altar. The closed trunk will be opened on Easter morning. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Joshua Krenz assists. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday church school classes for students ages 3 through sixth grade begin at 10:45 a.m.

Students in grades 5-12 are invited to participate in food, conversation and youth group activities 5-7 p.m. on March 1, 8, 15 and 22 at the second floor youth room. Vicar Joshua Krenz is the youth adviser.

Pastor will share information with those desiring to seek membership at Trinity Sunday at 1 p.m. Appointments are available to arrange a baptismal date. Please contact the church office to arrange a meeting with Pastor Moore at 610-377-4303.

Looking ahead is Ash Wednesday worship with Holy Communion and Imposition of ashes on the forehead Feb. 26 at noon and 7 p.m. A midweek Lenten series of soup and devotions starts March 4, concludes April 1. Soup suppers being each Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Luther Hall. The themed devotions “At the Name of Jesus” begin at 7 p.m. in the church.
