Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship with the Rev. Jeff Stansbury, pastor.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, including adult Bible study class, morning worship at 10:45 a.m., preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Wednesday: Prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5:15 a.m.

In need of men’s new or slightly used casual clothing of all sizes to be distributed at St. Peter’s community resource center. Clothing can be dropped off at side entrance to Bethany ECC Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Looking ahead:

• Bare Necessities Pantry, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, St. Peter’s Resource Center, Main Road, Franklin Township.

• IronPigs game, Aug. 3.

• Church picnic including a worship service, 11:30 a.m. Aug. 5, Phifer’s Ice Dam, Franklin Township.

• T.P. Trot: 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 18. This event will center on a 2-mile fun walk (jog or run) along the Weissport Canal. There will be music, food and fun for all ages. The event is to raise funds for the St. Peter’s Resource Center. Bring a donation of five toiletry items (toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.) for the pantry and your hot dog, chips and drink are free. Registration is available at St. Peter’s Facebook Page through Eventbrite.

• Lumber River Ministries, North Carolina, during 10:45 a.m. worship, Aug. 26. Community is welcome to enjoy great gospel music.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St. holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Jim Banks. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

People’s EC Church

Speaker Ari Hauben will be presenting a message, “A Heart for the Lost,” at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services of People’s EC Church, 216 Wagner St., Lehighton.

Throughout its long history, Chosen People Ministries has been unwavering in its commitment to bring the Gospel message of Salvation in Jesus “to the Jew first and to the Gentile” throughout the world. In stressing the Jewish roots of Christian Faith, Chosen People Ministries hopes to make the message of the Messiah more accessible to Jewish people and also to help Christian believers achieve a greater appreciation of the Jewish basis of their own faith traditions.

Trinity highlights

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., is at 9:30 a.m. To be included is the service of healing and blessing of prayer shawls. The Rev Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. The church is air-conditioned.

The Service of Healing with prayers and the “laying on of hands” are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost.

There is still time to register for Trinity’s Vacation Bible School. Registration forms are available in the church office or can be downloaded at tlclehighton.com. “Splash Canyon: God’s Promise on Life’s Wild Ride” is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6-10, for children ages 3 through sixth grade from the community. There is no registration fee. Teen and adult volunteers are welcome to help.
