Trinity happenings
First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., is at 5 p.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free communion wafers are available for those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.
Sunday church school classes for students age 3 through sixth grade begin at 10:45 a.m. Rehearsal is underway for the presentation of the program “Just a Little Christmas” during Dec. 10 worship.
First Tuesday Quiet Communion is at 10 a.m. Dec. 5.
“Breaking Bread” Youth Group for students in grades 7-12 will gather from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 17 in the youth room with supper, Bible study and discussion. Vicar Rich Bergen is the adviser.

In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Trinity is hosting a light dinner featuring German soups, appetizers and cakes plus showing “Martin Luther’s Christmas Tour” DVD and discussion in the Parish Hall from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 10. Please register in advance for this free event by calling the church office with your reservation by Dec. 8.
Bethany EC Church
Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship with the Rev. Jeff Stansbury, pastor.
Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, including adult Bible study class, fellowship time at 10:15, morning worship at 10:45 a.m., preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Monday: Kids Club, 6-7:15 p.m. each Monday.
Tuesday: Ladies Bible study, 10 a.m. at Blocker’s residence.
Wednesday: prayer meeting, 7 p.m.
Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5:15 a.m.; handbell practice, 6 p.m.; choir practice, 7 p.m.
Saturday: Decorating of the church and Community Christmas Tree in the park, 10 a.m.
Looking ahead:
Dec. 9: Music and crafts at St. Peter’s Community Resource Center, Main Road, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pale Moon Players will be presenting at 1 p.m. and the Lehighton High School Show Choir will present delightful music at 4 p.m. Community welcome.
Dec. 10: The Bethany ECC choir will present a cantata, “While Shepherds Watched” during the 10:45 worship service. This musical incorporates traditional Christmas carols along with some contemporary songs as it tells the story of the Nativity with Scripture and readings. Holly DeVito will accompany the choir under the direction of Daniel Graver, Bethany’s organist and choir director. Plan to join for this celebration at Bethany ECC, 222 North St., Lehighton.
Dec. 16: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., participation in St. Peter’s Community Resource Center Pantry.
Dec. 17: Celebrating Christ in Christmas with children during the 10:45 a.m. service. Bethany EC will participate in the Lehighton Borough Caroling Night, 6-8 p.m.
Dec. 24: Christmas Eve candlelight service, 7 p.m.
