Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship, Fall Rally Day and Homecoming Celebration this Sunday at 10 a.m. (time change from regular Sunday service). Join us for a celebration of family and friends. This special event is an ideal time for those who may have grown up at Bethany, attended Sunday school as a youth or got married at Bethany to reconnect with our community of faith. Special music by Bethany’s choir and guest speaker will be Pastor Phillip Walck, Lehighton native. World Communion Sunday will be observed.

Wednesday: Prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5:15 a.m.; choir practice, 7 p.m.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Jim Banks. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; Contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Tuesday: Adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., currently studying the book of Galatians.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

Trinity happenings

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, is at 5 p.m. on Oct. 6. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available at both times for those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. Coffeehouse fellowship is at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday church school classes for students age 3 through sixth grade begin at 10:45 a.m.

Blessing of the Animals will be held at noon Sunday in the church parking lot. Please have your animals leashed or crated for this event.

Registration is open for enrolling students currently in sixth grade for First Holy Communion classes. Three classes, Oct. 23-25, 4-5:30 p.m. Please contact the church office at 610-377-4303 for further information by Oct. 14. Communicants will receive their first Holy Communion on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 28.

Members of Trinity will be participating in the CROP Walk at Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport, on Oct. 14. Registration is at 1 p.m., the Walk starts at 2 p.m. The course is 1-4 miles. Contact the church office for more information on registration. Each walker needs a sponsorship envelope to secure donations. Form a team family, friends, co-workers; open to anyone in the community. This is a great opportunity to walk your dog. Money received benefits Trinity Food Pantry (25 percent), and Church World Services (75 percent) for relief and development programs. Last minute walk-ins are welcome to participate.

“Breaking Bread” Youth Group for students in grades 7-12 will meet in the youth room from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 21. Led by Vicar Rich Bergen, there will be supper and an overview of his pilgrimage to Rome to witness the canonization of Archbishop Oscar Romero.

For those desiring to arrange a baptismal date, Pastor Moore will share information at 1 p.m. Oct. 21. For those desiring to seek membership at Trinity, Pastor Moore will provide information at 1 p.m. Oct. 28. Please contact the church office in advance to register.
