Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship at 10:45 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Ream, pastor. Guest speaker, Family Promise.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages; fellowship time, 10:15 a.m.; preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Wednesday: Youth group, 6 p.m.; prayer meeting, 7s p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5 a.m.

Friday: Wrapped in Prayer Ministry, 7 p.m.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Kevin McGraw. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Midweek Bible study: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., currently studying the book of Revelation.

Men’s fellowship breakfast: First Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

Women’s fellowship breakfast: Third Saturday of each month at 9 a.m.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

St. John’s

St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive W., Lehighton:

Worship service: 9 a.m. Sunday.

Casual worship service: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21, with Holy Communion in either the family room or the fellowship hall. Saturday worship is an opportunity for those who cannot attend Sunday worship due to work schedules or other commitments that cannot be rescheduled. This will be held the third Saturday of each month.

Confirmation class: Are you in sixth, seventh or eighth grade? Confirmation is beginning on Sept. 22 right after worship in the youth room.

Rummage sale: Donations wanted for our rummage sale, which will be held during our Fall Bazaar Sept. 27 and 28. Household items, linens, small appliances, jewelry, books, games, kids’ toys, gardening, seasonal decorations, etc., are being accepted. You can place them in the nursery room along the back wall. Please, NO computers, printers, TVs or clothing items. If you have any questions, or need someone to pick up your items, please call Cheryl Kistler at 610-377-4662.

Worship service: 9 a.m. Sept. 29, Michael & All Angels Sunday, honoring all first responders. We would like to invite local first responders to attend worship where we will honor these individuals and their commitment to the safety of our community. This is also Youth Sunday and “They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our T-Shirts.” So mark your calendars, wear a faith T or a cross around your neck to openly display your faith in Jesus and join us in honoring those who are the first to come to our rescue when we need help.

Trinity Highlights

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., is at 5 p.m. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with allergy issues.

Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. Music is provided by the Trinity Praise Band. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Joshua Krenz assists. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday church school resumes weekly for students ages 3 through sixth grade, beginning with Rally Day crafts and activities beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Trinity’s Women of the ELCA will gather in Luther Hall at 7 p.m. Sept. 12. Special guest Al Sellers, delegate from the NEPA synod, will recap his experience and report on results and events of the recent churchwide ELCA Assembly held last month in Milwaukee. All people who are interested are invited to attend.

Looking ahead is the congregation’s observance of “Harvest Home” Sunday to be observed Sept. 22. It has traditionally served as a time when farmers have harvested their land and everyone appreciates what their labors have produced. Contributions of canned fruits, vegetables and cereals will be received and donated to the Food Pantry and distributed where needs arise.

For those desiring to arrange a baptismal date, Pastor Moore will share information at 1 p.m. Sept. 15. Appointments are available for those desiring to seek membership at Trinity. Please contact the church office in advance at 610-377-4303 to register.
