Lehighton State Police investigate incidents

State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents being investigated by troopers:

• On Wednesday at 5:16 p.m. troopers responded to Weir Lake and Kunkletown roads in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a report to two men arguing. Officers saw a 19-year-old man from Effort standing in a field with a backpack. A search of the backpack revealed the man had in his possession a bottle of alcohol. Being only 19, the man was cited for possession or transportation of liquor or brewed beverages. Troopers declined to identify the suspect.

• On May 22 at 8:21 p.m. troopers responded to magnum Excavating Garage on Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, at Magnum Excavating garage for a reported disturbance. On scene a 25-year-old man from Palmerton reported four unknown occupants inside a blue vehicle began arguing with him. During this time a passenger in the vehicle punched the victim in the face. The vehicle then left the scene.

• A 57-year-old woman from Eldred Township, Monroe County, reported she was being scammed by unknown parties posing as people needing help with medical expenses. The investigation is continuing.

• A 57-year-old woman from Saylorsburg reported a identity theft incident. She said the theft occurred via a dating site. After sending numerous items and money to an unknown suspect, fraudulent credit cards were opened in her name. The investigation is continuing.

• A 59-year-old man from Palmerton reported someone vandalized his Komatsu PC120 excavator while parked along Carney Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. The incident occurred sometime between at 4 p.m. May 23. and at 3:30 p.m. May 28.
