Lehighton state police report on thefts
Lehighton state police reported on the following thefts:
• State police are investigating a minor theft that was reported at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. The 72-year-old Saylorsburg woman told troopers a driver from a moving company took a scrub brush valued at $8 from her carport. The home is located along Harley Road in Ross Township. Police said the woman does not know the name of the moving company, nor did she have a description of the truck.
• The theft of an X box and a Samsung TV from a residence in the unit block of Old Orchard Road, Lehighton, is under investigation. The victim, a 26-year-old man, reported the theft at 8:49 p.m. Monday. He told police he allowed a person named “Scoop” to stay at his house overnight and when he arrived home from work, the items were missing.
• The theft of an AT&T Go Phone is being investigated. The 30-year-old victim, of Bridge Street in Weissport, told police he gave the phone to the suspect to initially make a phone call on the front porch of the victim’s residence, and when the victim returned to the porch, the man and the phone were gone. The Phoenix 3 phone is valued at $60.
• State police are investigating the theft of a specialized construction trailer and license plate in Lower Towamensing Township. The theft occurred between April 1 and Oct. 13. The victim, a 60-year-old Lehighton woman, said it was taken from a vacant lot along Gap Road in the township.
• The theft of a bicycle valued at $85 is being investigated. The incident happened between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 1800 block of Mahoning Mountain Road. The victim is a 60-year-old Lehighton woman.
• State police are investigating the theft of a registration plate from inside a vehicle. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. Oct. 17 and noon Oct. 18 in the 200 block of Clarence Drive, Towamensing Township. The victim, a 29-year-old Palmerton woman, told police the PA plate, KTZ6690, was taken from inside her locked 1998 Subaru Impreza.
• An incident at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 700 block of 57 Drive, Towamensing Township, required state police assistance. Police were told someone stole a 380 Ruger from a 69-year-old Kunkletown man, who later found the firearm on his back porch where he must have misplaced it. Police said no crime occurred.
• Police are investigating a burglary that was reported at 4:57 p.m. Sept. 24. A 56-year-old man from the 100 block of White Church Lane, Kunkletown, told police he was in jail for two months and arrived home to find several items missing from his residence. Police said there are no suspects at this time.
• State police are calling an incident that happened between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 300 block of White Lane in Towamensing Township a “burglary by residential force.” The victim, a 48-year-old Palmerton man, reported someone smashed a rear glass door on his residence before fleeing the scene.
• State police are investigating a robbery that was reported at 5 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 400 block of White Street, Weissport. A 61-year-old Lehighton man reported that someone stole $280 in cash from his vehicle. The thief took two $100 bills and four $20 bills, police said.
