Northern Lehigh posted baseball and softball victories on Wednesday.

 

BASEBALL

Pleasant Valley-ES North

Pleasant Valley rattled off eight extra base hits on its way to a 19-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg North.

Brandon Ratti led the Bears with a double, triple, three runs scored and four RBIs, while Dallas Greenzweig had two singles, a double and three RBIs.

The Bears’ Dan McEvoy (double, triple), Mychal Keanr (single, triple), Matt Burnett (two singles), Chris Frable (two singles) and Nick Ciszak (double, triple) all finished with multiple hits.

Luke Eitner and Brandon Hess combined to toss a three-hit shutout 7-0 victory over Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

Eitner, who earned the win, went six innings and allowed three hits while striking out eight and walking none. Hess pitched one inning of relief, finishing with one strikeout.

Eitner also had a single, double, two runs scored and four RBIs.

Panther Valley-Catasauqua

A nine-run fourth inning sparked Panther Valley to a 16-6 non-conference win over Catasauqua.

The Panthers’ leadoff hitter Megan Pascoe had a single, two doubles and three runs scored.

Katrina Horvath had two singles, two runs scored and two RBIs for PV, while Claire Kokinda chipped in with two doubles and three runs scored.

Teammate Brianna Staehle added two singles and two runs scored.

Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua split in Schuylkill League action.

The Blue Raiders came away with a 77-73 win on the girls’ side, while the Olympians posted an 85-65 victory on the boys’ side.

The Olympians’ trio of Lydia Wallace (200, 1600, 300H), Debbie Loyd (long jump, triple jump, pole vault) and Samuel Hydro (400, 800, 1600) all recorded a hat trick in first-place finishes.

William Munson (Shot put, javelin) finished as a multiple first-place finisher.

Emily Titus (shot put, javelin) and Barron Stauffenberg (long jump, triple jump) led the Blue Raiders with multiple first-place finishes.

Lehighton recorded a Schuylkill League sweep over Pine Grove.

The Indians ran away with a 108-41 victory on the girls’ side, while the boys escaped with a 76-66 win.

The Indians’ Kaia Slaw swept the jumps with first-place finishes in the long, triple and high jump.

Kelsey Gaston (1600, 3200), Brittney Bartasavage (100H, 300H), Isabella Meckes (shot put, discus), Tahmir Spencer (100, 200) and Isiah Wetzel (long jump, triple jump) all won two events.
