Northwestern received wins from both of its basketball teams on Tuesday.

The Tiger boys earned a double overtime victory over Moravian Academy, while the girls also defeated the Lions.

Meanwhile, Tamaqua posted victories in girls basketball and wrestling, while its swim team split with North Schuylkill.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Moravian Acad.-

Northwestern

Northwestern needed double overtime to gain a 62-56 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.

Luke Hallman and Deven Bollinger both scored 16 points to lead the Tigers (2-3; 1-3). Nick Henry contributed 13 points, while Sean McCann added 10.

Abel Saft netted 14 points to pace the Lions (3-2; 2-2).

Northwestern also won the JV game, 50-26.

Bangor jumped out to an early lead and pulled away from Northern Lehigh for a 61-41 Colonial League win.

Nate Owens scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the first quarter as the Slaters gained a 16-4 advantage.

The Bulldogs (0-7; 0-4) received a team-high 18 points from Zach Moyer, while Ardit Mujovic chipped in with nine.

The Tigers (5-2; 4-0) also received 12 points from Kailyn Jones, while Paige Sevrain added 10.

Quinn O’Connor led the Lions with 13 points.

Casey Walsh had a game-high 17 points for the Slaters, who raced to a 13-2 first-quarter lead.

Tamaqua-Pine Grove

Tamaqua placed four players in double figures as the Blue Raiders rolled to a 60-28 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.

Emma Kuczynski led Tamaqua with 15 points, and also added six steals and six assists, while Baylee Reinhardt contributed 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Raiders, who raced to a 31-point halftime lead, also received 13 points from Emily Titus and 10 from Jen Frederickson.

Tamaqua improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Tamaqua and North Schuylkill gained a split in a Schuylkill League meet.

The girls team posted a 101-56 win, while the boys dropped a 89-56 decision.

The Blue Raiders’ Madelyn Jones grabbed first in both the 200 and 500 freestyles.

Also earning wins were Maura Walker (200 IM), Ashley Jones (diving), Megan Lavine (100 back), Hailey Toth (100 breast) and Alexander Barron (100 breast).
