Brayden Knoblauch had a big game Saturday to lead Tamaqua past Nativity.

Lehighton gained weekend wins in both girls basketball and wrestling, while both of Weatherly’s cage teams were victorious.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Nativity

A 37-point explosion from Brayden Knoblauch allowed Tamaqua to gain a 68-54 non-league win over Nativity.

Knoblauch hit eight three-pointers in the contest.

The Blue Raiders (6-1), who got off to a fast start with 25 first-quarter points, also received 13 points from Lucas Gregoire and nine from Mike Bonetsky.

Quandre Latimore tallied a team-high 23 points for the Hilltoppers (4-3).

Nativity edged Tamaqua, 47-45, in the JV game.

Weatherly-Lincoln LA

Weatherly built a first-half lead and then hung on to post a 71-69 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

Scotty Zoscin scored 22 of his team-high 27 points in the first two quarters as the Wreckers (4-3) gained a 10-point halftime advantage.

Antonio Colecio added 20 points for the winners, while the Lions (2-6) received a game-high 30 points from Joshua Gonzalez.

Weatherly lost the JV game by an 80-25 score.

Kevin Schenk poured in a game-high 22 points as Pottsville cruised to a 72-39 non-league win over Northwestern.

The Tide (5-2), which raced to a 41-12 halftime lead, also received 16 points from Mason Barnes.

Sam Yadush tallied 11 points to pace the Tigers (3-4).

Pottsville also won the JV game, 53-40.

Stephon Sheard poured in a game-high 31 points as Nazareth rolled to an 80-44 victory over Palmerton.

The talented Blue Eagles (5-2) from the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference also received 19 points from Anthony Harris.

Nate Dougherty paced the Blue Bombers (5-2) with 19, while Justin Hosier tallied 13.

Nazareth also won the JV game, 66-52.

Marian-Notre Dame (ES)

Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg used a big second quarter and 14 three-pointers to help gain an 88-56 non-league win over Marian.

Daniel Lynch made six of those treys and finished with a game-high 28 points. The Spartans (4-2), who posted 31 points in the second frame, also received 21 from Dylan Parris.

The Colts (4-3) were led in scoring by Tyler Fritz, who netted 15 points. Brandon Sabulsky chipped in with 11, while Dante Agosti added nine.

Marian won the JV game, 66-43, behind 15 points from Chris Latoff.

Hailey Miller scored a team-high 14 points to help Lehighton earn a 50-41 non-league win over Minersville.

Miller hit five free throws in the fourth quarter as the Indians (5-2) held on for the victory.

Emily Miller contributed 11 points, while Lillian Brown chipped in with nine.

For the Miners (2-2), Alexandra Kroznuskie tallied a game-high 24 points.

Lehighton dropped a 39-32 decision in the JV game.

Lindsey Hoffman hit for a game-high 21 points as Weatherly pulled away from Millville for a 71-38 non-league victory.

Emily Zoscin tallied 17 points and collected 11 rebounds for the Wreckers, who outscored their opponent by a 40-17 margin in the middle frames. The winners (5-1) also received 13 points from Abby Hernandez.

In the JV game, Millville rolled to a 44-17 decision.

Sage Christoper scored a game-high 13 points as Northwestern rallied for a 44-39 non-league victory, over Pottsville.

Christopher was a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line, and the Tigers (8-1) used a 16-9 fourth quarter to erase a deficit.

Alexandra Lister added 10 points to the win, while Sydney Sevrain chipped in with eight.

WRESTLING

Pen Argyl-Lehighton

In a match where Lehighton registered four pins, it was a one-point decision by Christian Rodriguez that allowed the Indians to earn a 36-33 non-league win over Pen Argyl.

Rodriguez edged Austin Ashenfalder by a 4-3 score at 220 pounds to clinch the match.

Earlier, the winners (2-2) received first-period falls from Lukas Ferguson (113), Lucas Sangiuliano (138), Chris Whiteman (145) and Logan Pagotto (152). Alex Zeigenfuss also added a decision win at 195 pounds.
