Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 20
The Palmerton boys basketball team clinched a berth in the district playoffs with a win on Monday night.
The Blue Bombers also received a victory from its wrestling squad.
Other area teams to gain wins included the Panther Valley boys, and the Jim Thorpe, Marian and Northern Lehigh girls.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Palmerton-Notre Dame ES
Kody Kratzer and Justin Hosier combined for 51 points as Palmerton defeated Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg 71-65 in a non-league contest and clinched a district playoff berth.
Kratzer tallied 10 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter as the Blue Bombers (11-5) held off the Spartans. Hosier added 24.
Notre Dame (6-8) received a team-high 24 points from Aaron Bailey.

CMVT-Panther Valley
Eleven different players scored for Panther Valley in coasting to a 66-24 non-league win over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech.
Erick Marchorro and Aaron Gutierrez both scored eight points in the opening quarter as the Panthers raced to a 28-6 lead.
Marchorro finished with a game-high 15 points, while Gutierrez contributed 10. Blake White and Brandon Stilitino both chipped in eight points.
PV, which also won the JV game 46-22, improved to 10-6.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Minersville-Marian
Marian’s strong second half enabled it to pull away from Minersville for a 51-35 Schuylkill League victory.
Emily Shaud scored a game-high 19 points for the Fillies, who outscored their opponent by a 29-17 margin in the final two frames. Shaud registered 15 of her points at the foul line.
The winners, now 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the league, also received 10 points from Julia Kreisl.
Alex Kroznuskie had nine points for the Miners (10-4; 6-2).

Jim Thorpe won its ninth straight game by cruising to a 66-36 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.
Skyler Searfoss poured in a game-high 21 points, while Olivia Smelas added 15 points, five steals and five assists.
The Olympians (15-1; 9-0) also received 15 points from Leila Hurley.
For the Cardinals (7-7; 2-7), Ally Butler finished with a team-high 15 points.

The Spartans, who raced to a 20-3 first-quarter advantage, received a game-high 24 points from Kamryn Mengel.
