The Northwestern boys basketball team clinched a district playoff berth with a victory on Thursday.

The Tigers also received a win from their girls team.

Elsewhere, both Palmerton squads were victorious, while Tamaqua swept Schuylkill Haven in swimming action.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Northwestern-Pen Argyl

Northwestern clinched a district playoff berth by posting a 52-41 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Luke Hallman scored a game-high 18 points for the Tigers (11-9; 8-7), who raced out to a 20-9 first-quarter lead.

The winners, who stayed alive for a spot in the leage playoffs, also received nine points from Deven Bollinger.

The Knights (5-14; 1-14) were led by Conor Fehr’s 13 points.

Palmerton won its fifth game in a row by holding off Bangor for a 54-51 Colonial League victory.

Kody Kratzer poured in a game-high 23 points for the Blue Bombers (15-5; 11-4), who led by nine after three quarters.

The winners also received 16 points from Justin Hosier and 10 from Owen Buck.

The Slaters (10-10; 8-8) were paced by Nate Owens, who tallied 22 points.

After a close first quarter, Wilson pulled away from Northern Lehigh to earn a 69-36 Colonial League victory.

Zach Moyer finished with a game-high 21 points for the Bulldogs (4-17; 3-13), while Carter Smith chipped in with eight.

The Warriors (14-5; 11-5), who used a 26-10 second frame to extend a one-point lead, received 17 points from Sam Brown.

Emily Shaud scored a game-high 11 points for the Fillies (11-8; 8-3), while Abbey Digris chipped in with eight points.

The Blue Devils (8-12; 3-8) received nine points from both Victoria Donovan and Abby Conroy.

The Olympians (19-1; 12-0), who have already clinched a league playoff berth, also received 14 points from Olivia Smelas, while Skyler Searfoss added 13.

Erika Dubosky finished with 18 points to lead the Panthers (5-15; 0-12).

Sydney Sevrain scored a game-high 22 points as Northwestern cruised to a 64-16 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

The Tigers (16-4; 13-2), who have clinched the league’s West Division title, also received 12 points from Tess Ledeboer.

The Green Knights are now 5-14 overall and 4-12 in the league.

Emma Kane scored a game-high 16 points for Weatherly (2-16; 0-11), while Brooke Siket led Haven with 15 points.

Tamaqua swept Schuylkill Haven in a Schuylkill League meet.

Nicole Aguero-Ramirez (200 Free), Ashley Jones (Diving), Brianna Dumond (500 Free) and Logan Hartney (100 Breast) all finished first to lead the girls to a 110-20 victory. The Raiders also captured all three relay events.

In the boys meet, Tamaqua posted an 81-61 win behind firsts from Nathaniel Kovalchick (200 Free), Joey Lescavage (500 Free), Brandon Long (100 Back) and Alexander Barron (100 Breast).
