Local roundup: Results from July 20 and 21

Franklin Township remained undefeated in the Panther Valley 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament.

Tamaqua White also earned a win in the 11-12 tournament.

In the 8-10-year-old PVLL bracket, both Towamensing and Tamaqua picked up victories.

PVLL 11-12 Tournament

Anthracite-Franklin Twp.

Franklin Township rallied to defeat Anthracite 7-4 in the Panther Valley 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament.

Trailing 4-2 in the last inning, Franklin pushed across five runs to take command. Franklin Township starter Cole Dietz pitched four innings, allowed four hits, while recording six strikeouts. Mike Gelatko had two hits for Franklin. John Light, Keyden Ahner, Dylan Greene, and Elliot Ahner each added a hit.

Brody Breiner went the distance for Anthracite, giving up six hits, while striking out seven. Brady Jones had two hits for Anthracite.

Franklin Township will face Tamaqua on Monday.

Tamaqua White-Tri County

Tamaqua White downed Tri County 15-5 in three innings in the Panther Valley 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament.

Will Behun, Brady McCabe, Luke Frohnheiser, Jake Yenser, Chase Behr, and Logan Wargo all drove in runs for Tamaqua White, which scored seven times in the third inning to seal the win.

Brandon Bennet pitched two innings for Tamaqua, allowing two hits and striking out three while without allowing any runs. Landon Kamant and Jake Yenser finished the job on the mound.

Will Behun, Ana Ackerman, and Evan Meckes all collected multiple hits in the game for Tamaqua.

PV 8-10 Tournament

Towamensing-Anthracite

Towamensing rolled to an 11-1 win over Anthracite in the Panther Valley 8-10-year-old Little League Tournament.

Colton Becker pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts for Towamensing. Greyson Ahner added two hits with two RBIs, while Shane George collected three hits.

McCardle scored a run for Anthracite.

Tamaqua-Jim Thorpe

Tied 6-6 going into bottom of fourth inning, Tamaqua scored 10 runs to wrap up a 16-6 victory over Jim Thorpe in Panther Valley’s 8-10-year-old Little League Tournament.

Ace Schickram started things off with a home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the opening frame for Tamaqua. Schickram also added a single, walk, four runs scored and three stolen bases. Brayden Witkowski was 1-for-2, with two walks, three RBIs and four stolen bases.

Witkowski finished with four strikeouts while surrendering just two hits and one walk in three innings pitched.

Lucas Franko (walk, two RBIs, two runs scored, three stolen bases) and Gavan Hess (RBI, two runs scored) had two hits apiece for the winners. Keegan Swedar (walk, two runs scored, two stolen bases) and Joey Conahan (triple) also had a hit for Tamaqua.
