Northwestern Lehigh’s girls boys soccer teams both picked up wins on Thursday. Lehighton earned victories in girls soccer and volleyball, while the Tamaqua girls soccer team, Marian and Weatherly golfers, and volleyball teams from Panther Valley and Jim Thorpe all won their matches.

BOYS SOCCER

Bangor-Northwestern

Northwestern took a 2-0 shutout win over Bangor in this Colonial League clash.

Luke Bryan and Jeff Garcia scored the goals for the Tigers (5-3, 3-2), who held a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.

Moravian Academy-

Northern Lehigh

Moravian Academy recorded a 5-1 win over Northern Lehigh in a Colonial League contest.

Selim Eris led the Lions (6-0, 5-0) with a pair of goals.

Josh Sallers scored a second-half goal off a penalty kick to get the Bulldogs on the board.

Logan Dyer had 14 saves in goal for Northern Lehigh (1-7, 0-5).

Saucon Valley-Palmerton

Saucon Valley cruised to a 9-0 shutout win over Palmerton.

Bryce Yacone had a busy night in goal, recording 10 saves for the Blue Bombers (2-4, 0-4).

The Panthers (5-2, 5-0) had eight different players score a goal in the win.

East Stroudsburg South-

Lehighton

East Stroudsburg notched a 4-2 decision over Lehighton.

Nate Hawk and Riley Walker both scored goals for the Indians.

GIRLS SOCCER

Northwestern-Bangor

Northwestern turned a 1-1 halftime tie into a 3-1 Colonial League win over host Bangor.

Kylie Zentz scored a pair of goals for the Lady Tigers (7-0, 4-0), while teammate Bailey Groff recorded the other score. Jenna Lowthert, Hallie Bleam and Sophia Motolese all had assists in the winning effort.

North Schuylkill-

Lehighton

Lehighton held off North Schuylkill for a Schuylkill League win, 1-0.

The Tribe’s Ashley Marchassault scored the game-winner in the second half off an assist from Casey Hanley.

Northern Lehigh-

Moravian Academy

Moravian Academy showed its strength, downing Northern Lehigh 4-0 in Colonial League action.

Chloe Oudin led the Lions with a pair of goals and an assist in the win.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Saucon Valley earned a 4-0 shutout win over Palmerton in a Colonial League game.

Lauren Giles and Sophia Riehl scored two goals each for the Panthers (4-2, 4-0).

Megan Green had 11 saves for Palmerton (2-4, 1-3).

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Tamaqua shut out Pine Grove, 2-0, in a Schuylkill League matchup.

Lehighton-Weatherly

Weatherly outlasted Lehighton in Schuylkill League golf action, 369-372.

The Wreckers’ Ashton Gerhard and the Tribe’s Jack Lorenz both notched rounds of 82 to split the medalist honors.

VOLLEYBALL

Lourdes-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe took a 3-0 decision over Lourdes Regional in Schuylkill League action, 25-8, 25-3, and 25-6.

Brandy Montemuro led the Lady Olympians with four aces, 10 assists and 11 kills, while Abbey McGinley added 16 digs. Grace Baldassano had a nice game with six aces and 16 assists, and Kristin Pompa added four kills.

Panther Vy.-Pine Grove

Panther Valley took a straight-set 3-0 win over Pine Grove, 25-10, 26-24, and 25-18.

Jenna Dubosky had a nice outing with 19 kills, 13 assists, and two aces, while Erika Dubosky also shined with nine kills, five aces, and six digs.

Gianna Steber had 14 assists and Olivia Dacey added six kills and 13 digs.

Lehighton-PM West

Lehighton dropped the opening set, but came back to defeat Pocono Mountain West in a non-league match, 23-25, 25-17, 25-29, 25-16.

Sophia Salerno had nine kills, two blocks and 15 digs for the Indians (4-2), while Alyssa Frey added four kills, six digs, 21 assists and two aces.

The winners also received 18 digs from Hailey Miller, and 15 digs and two aces from Gina Piccioni.

Marian-Pottsville

Pottsville powered its way to a 3-0 decision over Marian in a Schuylkill League bout, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-16, 26-24.

Leading the Fillies was Alivia Karchner with 13 kills, two aces and six digs, and Macie Mazalusky with 13 digs.

Kelly Sullivan added six blocks, while Ashlyn Klitsch finished with 19 assists.

So. Lehigh-Palmerton

Southern Lehigh made quick work of Colonial League foe Palmerton, winning 25-3, 25-8 and 25-7.

Taylor Graham had four aces, three digs and four kills for the Spartans (5-0).

Notre Dame-N’western

Notre Dame defeated Northwestern 3-0 in Colonial League action, 25-18, 25-18, and 25-13.

Ella Carson’s four aces and three digs, along with Kylie Wade’s three aces, were the highlights for the Tigers.
