Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 21
Northwestern picked up victories in boys soccer, girls soccer and field hockey on Saturday.
In cross country, Northern Lehigh’s Reagan Pender had a second-place finish in the PIAA Foundational Invitational.
BOYS SOCCER
Jim Thorpe-Tri-Valley
Jim Thorpe posted a 3-0 non-league victory over Tri-Valley.
Chris Condly, Thor Huth and Aiden Clements scored the Olympians’ goals. Clements, Huth and Leandro Ramirez were credited with assists.
TJ Smith made four saves in net to record the shutout for Thorpe.
Bangor-Lehighton
Bangor picked up a 2-0 non-league win over Lehighton.
Dominic Martocci and Brian Barton both netted goals for the Slaters.
Bangor goalie Derek Lasher had three saves to record the shutout. Indians’ keeper Randy Bongiorno finished with six saves,
NDGP-Northern Lehigh
Notre Dame of Green Pond ran away with a 11-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
Kendrick Gallego sparked the Crusaders’ offense with four goals, while Francesco D’Avella followed with two scores.
Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Four second-half goals propelled Northwestern to a 5-0 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.
Ryan Baker and Jason Blaine both recorded a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Luke Bryan, Josh Zellner and Brandon Gollas also scored goals.
Salisbury-Palmerton
Salisbury edged Palmerton for a 3-2 Colonial League win.
Corland Wood and Zack Brotzman netted the Bombers’ goals. Nick Papay and Jonny Perloni were credited with assists.
Bombers’ keeper Nic Singleton finished with nine saves.
Emmaus-Pleasant Valley
Jake Groh’s hat trick sparked Emmaus to a 10-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.
The Green Hornet’s Andrew Gaines chipped in with two goals, while Hudson Peck recorded a goal and two assists.
Pleasant Valley slips to 4-5-1 overall (4-4-1 EPC), while Emmaus remains perfect at 11-0 (9-0).
GIRLS SOCCER
Tamaqua-Jim Thorpe
Sophia Boyle’s four goals highlighted Tamaqua’s 7-4 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.
Emma Kuczynski also had a strong performance with three goals for the Blue Raiders. Kuczynski, Rebekah Hromyak and Katie Rudy all finished with assists.
For Jim Thorpe, Lexi Marotto, Lydia Wallace, Nicole Carroll and Lauren Lekites all scored goals.
Blue Mountain-Lehighton
Blue Mountain recorded a 2-0 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.

Notre Dame of Green Pond picked up a 2-1 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
Brooke Bower had the Bulldogs’ lone goal, while Emily Hunsicker was credited with the assist.
Grace Perna and Karli Mercurio scored the Crusaders’ goals.
Bulldogs’ goalie Erica Detweiler recorded eight saves.
Northern Lehigh falls to 2-10 overall (1-9 CL), while NDGP moves to 4-4-1 (3-3-1 CL).
Northwestern-Pen Argyl
Northwestern shut out Pen Argyl, 3-0, in Colonial League action.
Palmerton-Salisbury
Salisbury cruised to a 4-0 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.
Quinn Wittman paced the Falcons with two goals, while Olivia Hoeing and Aaliyah M’Bai each added single scores.
Lily Schimeneck recorded five saves to earn the shutout.
Pleasant Valley-Emmaus
Emmaus knocked off Pleasant Valley for a 3-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.
CROSS COUNTRY
PIAA Foundation Invite
Northern Lehigh’s Reagan Pender turned in another fine performance, finishing second in the girls’ 1A class at the 13th Annual PIAA Foundation Invitational in Hershey.
Weatherly, Northwestern and Marian also took part in the meet.
The Wreckers’ Scotty Zoscin had the top showing among area boys with a 30th-place finish in the 1A race. Danielle Gordon recorded a Wreckers’ best with a 74th-place finish in the girls.
For Northwestern, Matthew Santana was the top boy with a 55th place, while Angelina Klein was the best Tiger girl with an 18th-place finish.
Ford Marian, Kevin Early recorded a 106th-place finish, while.Grace Curnow’s 55th-place finish led the Fillies.
FIELD HOCKEY
Dallas-Lehighton
Aleah Nothstein’s second-half goal was the difference as Lehighton edged Dallas, 3-2.
Ally Miller and Brooke Schleicher gave the Indians an early 2-0 lead in the first half.
Kalie Rizzo posted the Mountaineers’ two goals – one in each half.
Indians’ keeper Angelina Romito finished with eight saves.
Lehighton is now 5-5 on the season.
Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Northwestern rolled to an 8-2 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.
Reagan Hernandez led the Tigers’ attack with two goals. Lauren Schellhamer, Morgan Werley, Brooke Page, Jalissa Molina, Brinley Rex and Allyson Myers all scored once. Schellhamer added two assists and Werley had one.
Bangor-Palmerton
Bangor recorded a 3-2 Colonial League win over Palmerton.
Megan Serfass had both of the Bombers’ goals.
