The Jim Thorpe boys edged Schuylkill Haven in basketball action Saturday.

In other games, Panther Valley and Weatherly posted girls wins, while the Lehighton wrestling team also gained a victory.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jim Thorpe-Sch. Haven

Justin Marykwas scored a team-high 14 points to help Jim Thorpe post a 58-54 non-league win over Schuylkill Haven.

Tyler Burak netted 11 points for the winners, including a 9-of-10 effort from the free throw line. The Olympians (4-2) also received 10 points from Nate Rosahac.

For the Hurricanes, Albe Evans tallied a game-high 18 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

S. Haven-Panther Vy.

Panther Valley opened up a huge lead and cruised to a 51-21 non-league win over Schuylkill Haven.

Rachelle Filer tallied nine points in the first half as the Panthers (4-3) built a 34-8 advantage.

Erika Dubosky scored a game-high 14 points, while Filer finished with 11. Christina Dacey also reached double figures, netting 10.

Millville-Weatherly

Weatherly raced out to a big lead and rolled past non-league foe Millville, 55-25.

Lindsey Hoffman hit for a game-high 12 points, while teammate Megan Peifer added 11.

The Wreckers (3-2), who were ahead 21-3 after the first quarter, also received 10 points from Emily Zoscin.

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Pottsville edged Jim Thorpe in Schuylkill League action, 53-47.

The Olympians (4-3; 1-2) used a big fourth quarter to tie the game and send it into overtime, but a 9-3 advantage by the Tide in the extra frame produced the victory.

Kayley Kovac led Thorpe with a game-high 26 points, including a 14-of-16 effort at the foul line. Payton Kovac and Abbey McGinley each chipped in with six points.

In the JV game, Jim Thorpe pulled out a 39-37 win.

Lehighton picked up a non-league victory against Pen Argyl, 45-35.

Nate Kemmerer (126 pounds), Logan Pagotto (145), Tyler Schock (160), and Jack Zimmerman (182) all recorded pins for the Indians. Kevin Madea added a decision at 120.
