Marian, Panther Valley and Weatherly all posted wins in boys basketball action on Saturday, while the Pleasant Valley girls picked up a victory.

The Tamaqua swim team also had a good day, sweeping Mahanoy Area.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Notre Dame ES-Marian

Marian used a second-frame offensive explosion to pull away from Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg for a 73-44 non-league win.

In the second quarter, Tyler Fritz scored 13 of his game-high 32 points, while Chris Ritsick hit four treys for all 12 of his points.

The Colts (11-8) also received eight points from Jarred Maylath.

Panther Vy.-Salem Christian

Panther Valley cruised to a 71-37 non-conference win over Salem Christian Academy.

Erick Marcharro and Tristan Blasko both had a team-high 14 points for the Panthers (13-7), who had a 45-16 lead at halftime. PV’s Brandon Stilitino also chipped in with 12 points.

Matt Shiffer paced the Eagles with 14 points.

Weatherly cruised to a 72-39 non-league win over Columbia-Mountour Vo-Tech.

Steph Yurchak and Julian Miller each had 10 points to lead the Wreckers, who used a 23-4 second quarter to pull away.

The winners, now 9-10, also received eight points from AJ Knepper and Zack Moon.

Whitehall utilized a big second half to come from behind and take down Pleasant Valley, 56-47.

Ethan Parvel scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Zephyrs.

The Bears (11-8) received a team-high 18 points from Andrius Harrison-Gaddist.

Pleasant Valley-Whitehall

Pleasant Valley battled evenly with Whitehall, before defeating the Zephyrs, 38-35.

Masani Francis led a balanced attack by the Bears (12-8) with nine points. Madison Rosenberg and Madison O’Neil both finished with seven.

For Whitehall, Alix Buskirk and Grace Clary both tallied 12 points.

Mahanoy Area jumped out to a huge lead and cruised to a 62-30 Schuylkill League win over Mahanoy Area.

Emily Zoscin tallied a game-high 12 points for the Wreckers (12-7), who fell behind 24-3 after the first quarter.

Mahanoy Area-Tamaqua

Tamaqua swept Mahanoy Area in Schuylkill League swimming, as the Blue Raider boys prevailed, 81-65, and the Lady Raiders rolled to a 125-37 decision.

The Raiders’ Jeff Letterhouse was a double winner on the day, claiming the 100 fly and 200 IM. Lexi Kerstetter (100 free, 100 back) and Olivia Stanek (200 IM, 100 fly) also recorded a pair of individual wins.
