The Marian boys and girls basketball teams picked up wins in scholastic action Wednesday night.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marian-Shenandoah Valley

Marian beat Shenandoah Valley, 58-43, in Schuylkill League action.

For the Colts, Tyler Fritz led all scorers with a game-high 19 points. Noah Stauffer followed with 13, while Dante Agosti and Brandon Sabulsky both chipped in 12 points apiece.

For the Blue Devils, Alvin Ortiz had a team-high nine points in the loss.

Mahanoy Area-Weatherly

Mahanoy Area erupted for 29 points in the second period and went on to defeat Weatherly, 76-55.

Jordan McGee poured in 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second quarter.

Mahanoy Area also got big games from Shane Miller and Justin Rivera, who scored 18 points apiece.

For the Wreckers, Zach Moon led the way with 13 points in the loss.

Mahanoy also won the JV game, 31-27.

Palmerton-Southern Lehigh

Palmerton’s offense sputtered in the second half as Southern Lehigh raced away to a 64-49 Colonial League win.

The Spartans received 12 points apiece from Chris Andrews, Kyle Hoff and Logan Blondell.

For the Blue Bombers, Justin Hosier led all scorers with a game-high 21 points, while Ryan Yacone added 10.

Jim Thorpe-Pine Grove

Pine Grove rallied to pull out a 59-51 double overtime victory over Jim Thorpe.

The Cardinals trailed the Schuylkill League matchup by nine points heading into the final period, but rallied behind Jake Leininger, who finished with a game-high 20 points.

Nate Rosahac had 14 points and Nick Rosahac and Justin Marykwas both added 11 for the Olympians (5-6, 1-4), who tied the game on a Chris Valdez three-pointer late in regulation.

Marian beat Nativity 33-28 in Schuylkill League action.

Leading the Fillies in scoring was Emily Shaud, who finished the contest 12-for-13 from the free throw line for all 12 of her points, while teammate Emma McClafferty added 10 points.

For the Golden Girls, Heenan led the way with nine points.

Nativity prevailed in the JV game, 35-29.

Catasauqua rode the forfeit train to a 48-21 Colonial League win.

Northern Lehigh won all four contested matches, but gave up eight forfeits. The Bulldogs’ Seth Fronheiser (138), Chase Ohlson (152), and Dominic Bandle (220) all notched pins, while Damian Rodriguez (170) earned a decision for the Bulldogs.

Earning mat slaps for the Tigers were Donovan White (132), Will Dellicker (152), Jackson Bernhard (160), Ryan Haverkamp (170), Jake Dellicker (106) and Quin Moyer (220). Northwestern’s Caleb Clymer continued his winning ways with a tech fall at 182.
