Lehighton turned in a strong showing as it hosted the Indians Duals on Saturday.

WRESTLING

Indian Duals

Host Lehighton had a good day at the Indian Duals, winning four of its five matches.

In pool play, the Tribe nabbed wins over East Stroudsburg North (41-36) and Central Bucks South (54-12), before falling to Notre Dame of Green Pond (40-36). Lehighton then moved on to defeat Allen, 56-24, and Schuylkill Haven 54-22.

Individually for the Indians, Nate Kemmerer had the strongest showing as he finished 5-0 with three pins. Meanwhile, teammates Logan Pagotto and Lucas Sanguiliano both went 4-1 with three pins.

Halifax-Panther Valley

Panther Valley made quick work of Schuylkill League opponent Halifax, dispatching them by a 56-21 score.

Picking up pins for the Panthers were Chris Walkinshaw (220), Louden Breiner (120), Derek Beckham (195), Kyle Rusnak (132), and Noah Berk (160). Hunter Kennedy (182) also got a tech fall.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mahanoy Area-Jim Thorpe

Nick Rosahac made the game-winning free throw with 0.8 seconds remaining to give Jim Thorpe a 43-42 non-league win over Mahanoy Area.

Rosahac led the Olympians (6-7) with 14 points. Zach Searfoss added nine.

Jordan McGee led the Golden Bears with 14 points.

So. Lehigh-Northwestern

Southern Lehigh erupted early to post a Colonial League victory over Northwestern, 76-53.

The Spartans led by double figures after one quarter before scoring 30 points in the second frame to break it open.

The winners were led by Chris Andrews with 17 points.

The Tigers (8-5) received 12 points from Deven Bollinger and 11 from Sam Yadush.

CMVT-Panther Valley

Panther Valley used the strength of a 27-point third quarter to run away with a 75-49 non-conference win over Columbia-Montour AVTS.

Rene Figueroa led the Panthers with a 28-point performance. Tristan Blasko followed with 22 points.

Owen Roberts paced CMVT with a team-high 19 points.

The Panthers improved to 8-4 overall.

Jim Thorpe-Shenandoah

Jim Thorpe had a strong start, but Shenandoah Valley battled back for a 54-38 non-league win.

The Olympians jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one frame, but Shenandoah tied it up at halftime and went on to the victory.

Leading the Devils was Victoria Donovan with a game-high 22 points.

Natalia Richards led Jim Thorpe (5-7) with nine points.

Tamaqua put three players in double figures and rolled to a non-league victory over Kutztown, 82-56.

Emma Kuczynski led the Blue Raiders (9-4) with a game-high 22 points. Emily Titus followed with 21 and Kirstin Jones added 12 for the winners.

For the Cougars, Gretta Bankes had 20 points.

In the JV contest, Tamaqua scored a 34-13 win.

SWIMMING

Salisbury-Tamaqua

Tamaqua had a nice day in the pool Friday, sweeping Salisbury. The Blue Raider boys pulled out a narrow 79-76 win, while the girls nabbed a 94-85 victory.

Individual winners for the Raider boys were Billy Frederick in one-meter diving and Jeff Letterhouse in the 100 backstroke. For the Tamaqua girls, Tressa Barron captured the one-meter diving, Lexi Kerstetter took the 100 backstroke, and Kayla Sherry won the 100 breaststroke.

Panther Valley edged Weatherly, 36-34.

Bryson Haydt had 11 points for the Panthers, while Dino Turner tallied nine.

Frank Willis scored a game-high 21 points for the Wreckers. Ian McLaurin added six points.

7TH GRADE

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Brad Hood’s 17 points led Panther Valley to a 42-23 win over Weatherly.

Cody Orsulak added six points for the Panthers.

Zach Bresnek had six points for the Wreckers, while Tom Chapman added five.

Lehighton’s Lucas Ferguson and Austin Kern captured championships at the North Schuylkill Tournament:

The Indians’ Darrell Hull and Nick Zeigenfuss both had third-place finishes, while Mike Rodriguez added a sixth-place finish.
