Lehighton picked up a close win over Panther Valley Tuesday, while the Tamaqua girls’ notched a non-league win to round out the scholastic action.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Panther Vy.-Lehighton
A balanced scoring attack helped Lehighton earn a 61-59 non-league victory over Panther Valley.
Caine Carpenter tallied a team-high 18 points to lead four Indian players in double-figure scoring.
Addison Howland contributed 13 points, while TaQuan Bradley-Chambers finished with 12. Lehighton (2-7) also received 10 from Collin Troxell.
For the Panthers (5-3), Tristan Blasko poured in a game-high 21 points. Teammate Rene Figueroa tossed in 17.
In the JV game, Panther Valley pulled out a 33-27 win.

Tamaqua erased an early lead and defeated Moravian Academy, 57-48, in a non-league contest.
The Blue Raiders (7-1) used a 23-9 second quarter to wipe out an eight-point deficit.
Sophia Boyle scored nine of her 14 points in that crucial second session, while Emma Kuczynski added seven of her team-high 21 in the pivotal stretch. Tamaqua also received 11 points and five assists from Jamie Zuber, while Kirstin Jones pulled down 12 rebounds.
The Lady Lions were led in scoring by Maya Ettle’s 21 points.
In the JV game, Tamaqua rolled to a 37-4 victory behind 14 points from Boyle and 13 from Emma Hope.

Salisbury needed two overtime sessions to defeat Palmerton, 51-48, in Colonial League action.
Kelly Gardus led the Falcons with 13 points, while Olivia Hoeing and Alicia Burkhardt both added nine.
For the Bombers, who rallied from a five-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime, Baylee Guedes led all scorers with 20 points. Palmerton (4-5) also received 16 from Kayla Cincilla.

Moravian Academy swept Tamaqua in non-league action, despite several strong performances from the Blue Raiders.
The Tamaqua girls dropped a 102-80 decision, but received two individual firsts from Sarah Maue (200 IM, 100 breast) and Lexi Kerstetter (200 free, 100 back).
In the boys meet, the Raiders dropped a 132.5-43.5 decision. Tamaqua’s Jeff Letterhouse won the 100 back and Bill Frederick took the one-meter diving competition.
