The Panther Valley boys clinched a district playoff berth by gaining a win over Nativity on Monday.

In other action, Tamaqua, Marian and Weatherly posted boys wins, while the Northern Lehigh girls were also victorious.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nativity-Panther Valley

Tristan Blasko scored a team-high 18 points to help Panther Valley gain a 67-57 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity and clinch a berth in the District 11 playoffs.

Trey Turner added 16 points, including eight during a 24-point fourth frame, that allowed the Panthers to secure the win. Erick Marcharro contributed 11 points, while Allen Perez chipped in with nine.

For Nativity, Casian Flowers ended with a game-high 19 points.

PV, which dropped the JV game by a 54-47 margin, improved to 11-5 overall and 7-1 in the league. The Panthers clinched their first district berth since the 2012 season.

Tamaqua-Minersville

Tamaqua raced to an early lead and cruised to a 59-41 Schuylkill League win over Minersville.

Thad Zuber and Luke Gregoire both scored 14 points for the Blue Raiders, who held a 21-10 advantage after the first quarter.

Tamaqua (12-3; 6-2) also received 12 points from Gabe Gregoire.

The Miners, who won the JV game by a 48-47 score, were led by Bryce Ellinger’s 12 points.

Tri-Valley-Weatherly

Four Weatherly players reached double-digit scoring in a 57-43 Schuylkill League victory over Tri-Valley.

Scotty Zoscin paced the Wreckers (6-8; 3-5) with 16 points, while Steph Yurchak tallied 15, including six during the first quarter, which saw the winners grab a 16-6 lead.

Julian Miller contributed 11 points to the victory, and Gabe Miller added 10.

In the JV contest, Tri-Valley posted a 42-35 win.

Schuylkill Haven-Marian

Marian stayed hot with a dominant 81-50 Schuylkill League win over Schuylkill Haven.

The Colts (6-7, 4-3) got 24 points from Tyler Fritz, who scored 38 in a win over Williams Valley last Friday. Chris Ritsick added 17 points and Noah Stauffer 16 as Marian produced its second-highest scoring output of the season. The Colts scored 83 points in December against Weatherly.

Marian, which hit 13 three-pointers in the contest, also won the JV game, 63-58.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Just three days after dropping a close game to Moravian Academy, Northern Lehigh got some revenge with a 56-49 Colonial League victory over the Lions.

Jada Saeger and Jill Olewine combined for 52 of the Bulldogs’ 56 points. Saeger tallied a game-high 30, while Olewine contributed 22.

Moravian, which posted a 50-48 win over Nolehi on Friday, received a team-high 18 points from Maya Ettle.

The victory lifted the Bulldogs to 6-10 overall and 6-6 in the league.
