Local Sports Roundup: Results from Jan. 29
The Jim Thorpe boys’ basketball team picked up a big win over Blue Mountain on Monday night.
The Tamaqua boys and Northwestern girls also earned victories.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Blue Mtn.-Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe knocked off Blue Mountain 48-46 in a Schuylkill League Division 1 contest.
Chris Valdez hit two clutch free throws late to seal the win and hand the Eagles (16-3, 10-1) their first division loss of the season. The win also clinched a District 11 playoff berth for the Olympians. Valdez finished with 10 points.
Justin Marykwas had 15 points for Jim Thorpe (11-8, 5-6), while Nick Rosahac added 11.
Blue Mountain won the JV game, 56-46.

Brayden Koblauch led the Raiders with 13 points. Lucas Gregoire added 12 points, while Thad Zuber scored 11 and Gabe Gregoire added 10.
Pine Grove won the JV game, 64-53.
