The Pleasant Valley boys needed double overtime to gain a critical win over Pocono Mountain East in basketball action on Tuesday.

Other area victories came from Lehighton wrestling and the Tamaqua girls swim team.

BOYS BASKETBALL

PM East-Pleasant Vy.

Deshawn Scarboro scored all six of his team’s points in double overtime to lift Pleasant Valley to a 62-60 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pocono Mountain East.

The Bears, who trailed by eight points entering the fourth quarter, received a team-high 14 points from Isaiah Howard. Scarboro finished with 12, while Andrius Harrison-Gaddist and Noah Neubert both added 10.

PV is now 10-8 and needs one win in its last three games to clinch a district playoff berth.

PM EAST

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Blue Mtn.-Jim Thorpe

Blue Mountain outscored Jim Thorpe in each frame to pull away for a 56-42 Schuylkill League win.

Natalia Richards and Payton Kovac both finished with 12 points to pace the Olympians (6-12). Kovac also collected 10 rebounds.

North Schuylkill pulled away from Lehighton for a 65-40 Schuylkill League victory.

The Spartans (16-1, 10-0) were led by Averi Jordan’s 23 points.

Skylynn Faust scored a team-high 15 points for the Indians (12-7; 7-4), while Aubrey Blasiak added 13.

Lehighton took advantage of some timely pins and a pair of forfeits to defeat non-league opponent, Southern Lehigh, 45-25.

Mason Ferguson, Nathan Kemmerer, Cody Scherer, and Lucas Sangiuliano all recorded pins for the Tribe, while Tyler Schock, Richard Fronheiser, and Christian Rodriguez earned decision wins.

Tamaqua gained a split with Schuylkill Haven in Schuylkill League action.

The Blue Raider girls rolled to a 131-39 win, while the Hurricane boys posted 100-64 victory.

Double-event winners for Tamaqua included Jeff Letterhouse (200 IM, 100 back), Lexi Kerstetter (100 free, 200 free), and Brianna Dumond (100 back, 500 free).

Ryan Adams and Tressa Barron both won their diving events, while Caroline Balogach (50 free), Olivia Stanek (100 fly), and Sarah Maue (100 breast) also registered wins.

Panther Valley defeated Tamaqua, 31-29.

Brad Hood had 13 points for PV, while Cody Orsulak added nine.

Steven Hoffman had 16 for the Blue Raiders.

Jim Thorpe defeated Weatherly, 52-10.
