LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Results from Jan. 4

Despite the weather wreaking havoc with school closings, a pair of games involving area Schuylkill League teams were still played on Thursday.

The Tamaqua boys were defeated by Blue Mountain, while the Lehighton boys dropped their contest to Pottsville.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Blue Mtn.-Tamaqua

Drew Grace poured in 21 points to lead Blue Mountain past Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.

Gavin Conway added 15 for the Blue Eagles (8-1; 3-0), while Dylan Biever chipped in with nine.

For the Blue Raiders (8-2, 2-1), Thad Zuber led the way with 17 points. Brayden Knoblauch drilled four treys for 12 points and Lucas Gregoire added 10.

Blue Mountain also captured the JV contest, 49-41.

Pottsville-Lehighton

Pottsville’s defense stymied Lehighton as the Crimson Tide rolled to a 49-24 Schuylkill League Division 1 victory.

The Tide (6-1; 3-0) received a team-high 12 points from Ian Renninger. Eli Wood contributed 11 points, while Mason Barnes also reached double figures, finishing with 10.

Addison Howland led the Indians (2-8, 0-3) with nine points, while Collin Troxell added five.

The Crimson Tide also captured the JV contest, 52-36.

Tamaqua defeated Marian, 37-27.

Nate Gregoire led Tamaqua with 20 points, while Luke Verta added seven.

For Marian, Julian Rickert and Adam Swiech both had seven points.
