Longtime controller to retire
Carbon County’s longtime controller is retiring at the end of his term.
Robert Crampsie, who has served in the position of controller for 28 years, confirmed Thursday that he is not seeking re-election at the end of this year.
“It’s time,” he said last week.
The Summit Hill native has served in many capacities during his tenure, including president of the county prison board and secretary to the retirement board.
In addition, he is active in the community, serving on the Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade Committee, the Panther Valley Irish American Association and as a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley.
He and his wife, Kathy, have four children.
