The Rev. Robert F. Valent, O.F.M., a Summit Hill native, has been named pastor of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Clifton, New Jersey, where he has been an associate pastor since 1979.
The 68-year-old priest is one of 12 children of the late Joseph and Anna (Duchala) Valent and is a son of St. Michael Catholic Church, Lansford.
He studied at St. Bonaventure Minor Seminary, Sturtevant, Wisconsin, and was received into the Order of Friars Minor in Cincinnati, having been ordained on June 3, 1950, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, after graduating from St. Francis College, Burlington, Wisconsin, and Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary, Cedar Lake, Indiana.
