A look back: April 19, 2007

Panther Valley School Director Thomas Shober publicly expressed concerns with the district’s plan to give the present middle school in Lansford to the Borough of Lansford, stressing it could be renovated to meet future expansion needs.

The school is expected to be vacated later this year when classes are moved to a new $17 million middle school being built adjacent to the high school.

Shober contends with a new roof, wiring and heating system, the existing building will outlast the new middle school which has yet to be used, saying he is not in favor of relinquishing an educational building that he believes could still be put to good use.
