A look back: April 23, 1957
The State Department of Public Instruction has approved plans for a jointure of the Parryville, Bowmanstown and Towamensing Township school districts. The jointure, which will affect elementary classes from kindergarten through sixth grade, will be known as the Lower Carbon Joint School System.
Permanent plans call for the jointure to use the buildings presently in operation in each district.
Neither of the three districts operate a junior or senior high school program. Parryville sends its grade seven to 12 students to the Lehighton-Weissport joint school system and Bowmanstown and Towamensing send their pupils to the Palmerton High School.
