A look back: April 25, 1952
Joe Brown’s Bowling Center, 531 North St., East Mauch Chunk, one of the county’s most popular kegling headquarters in recent years, is no more, the proprietor having eliminated the alleys to make way for industry.
George Eck, proprietor of Eck’s Knitting Mill, and a nearby neighbor of Brown, has made plans to occupy the rear of the building and expand his business operations. Eck now conducts his knitting mill, specializing in the production of sweaters, in his home at 507 North St.
Brown will continue to operate his store in the front of the building while Eck will use a section measuring 70 feet long and 25 feet wide.
