A look back: April 28, 1962

A group of local teenagers won the continuous plaudits of the large audience for their spectacular work on the flying rings as the annual physical demonstration of the Jim Thorpe Area Senior High School was presented in the school gym last night.

The program thrilled the 500 spectators and brought unprecedented prestige to Daniel Strouse, director of physical education.

The spectacular ring work was performed by Susan Carroll, Jean Borits, Jacqueline Solomon, Raelene Melber, Frank Hydro, Dennis Lennon and Lynn Batdorf, while equally impressive on the parallel bars were Judy Yaich, Patsy Williams, Helen Guth, Dennis Lennon, Allen DiMichael, Earl Heydt and Gary Heudt.
