A look back: April 30, 1982
In an official move to recognize those involved with making the library a success, the Lehighton Memorial Library’s board of directors presented a plaque to John C. Wehr “in recognition for the many years of outstanding service to the Lehighton Memorial Library.”
Wehr began his work with the library in 1960, when he was appointed to the library board, and in 1962 was elected president, a position he held for five years. Then, although no longer an officer of the board, he continued his service to the library until 1975, when he left the board when he changed jobs.
During his tenure, the current library on North Street was realized, opening for business in June 1966.
