A look back: April 8, 1969
A New Hampshire native has been hired as Tamaqua’s new borough manager, borough solicitor Sparks Reese announced at a press conference this morning in the Tamaqua Municipal Building.
The new manager, Gardner R. Benson, who will leave a position as town manager in Goffstown, New Hampshire, will succeed Marvin Milam and will begin his new duties on April 21.
Benson made his second trip to Tamaqua to be present for a meeting of the Tamaqua Borough Council last night when his selection to the post at a salary of $11,000 a year was made final.
Milam left early in March to become manager of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
