A look back: Aug. 1, 1956
Five Schuylkill County Democrats, recently appointed for the second time to the Coaldale Hospital Board of Trustees, last night took their seats and reorganized the board.
Conspicuous by their absence were any Carbon County representatives.
Taking office were James Berrang, New Philadelphia, James J. Donahue, Mahanoy City, John Eagen, Palo Alto, who was named president, Joseph Holden, St. Clair, and Joseph Hughes, Pottsville.
Carbon appointees include Helen Dougherty, Jim Thorpe, Charles McFadden, Summit Hill, Fred Evans, Nesquehoning, and Margaret Mary McCall, Lansford, who were not confirmed by the GOP-controlled Legislature.
