The Carbon County Commissioners today approved a $1,000 flood aid grant to Weissport, conditional upon formal approval of solicitor Donald L. McCay, who was unable to attend today’s weekly business meeting.

Chief Clerk Nelson Norwood, county director of Civilian Defense, reported the county’s road and bridge force and two trucks had been sent to Weissport this week to aid in recovery work.

He stated also this county sent 530 cases of federally allocated surplus food to flood-damaged Stroudsburg on the instructions from state headquarters. The shipment included 500 cases of cheese and 30 cases of shortening, all of which will be credited to this county.
