A look back: Aug. 23, 1977
The Carbon County Commissioners today announced the appointment of Joseph Babinetz, of Lansford, as the county gypsy moth program coordinator.
He succeeds to the vacancy created by the resignation of Leo O’Donnell, of Jim Thorpe, who has accepted a teaching position in Palmerton.
Babinetz served as assistant to Homer H. Edwards, Penn Forest Township, executive director of the Carbon County Conservation District.
Babinetz, a resident of 819 E. Ridge St., is a technical assistant in the county Manpower program and will continue to serve in that capacity, now being given a dual role in the office. His salary was set at $6,500 for the new position.
