A look back: Aug. 26, 1999
Daniel Zacharias showed slides taken in various one-room schools in the Palmerton area prior to their merger in 1954 with Palmerton during a meeting of the Kibler School Restoration Committee.
He showed slides of the Stemlersville, Eckhart, Strohl, Greenzweig, Meinhard, Lovett, Kibler, Upper Pine Run and Lower Pine Run schools, as well as the Towamensing Elementary School.
Among those participating in the meetings and restoration planning were Roy Christman, Kay Gilbert, Natalie and JoAnne Murray, and Betty Burnhauser.
A 2000 dedication committee formed included Alice Hessinger, Marvaline Costenbader, Inge Foster, JoAnne Murray, Jim Foster and Luther Hittinger.
