A look back: Aug. 27, 2001
The Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and Ambulance showed off its new PL Custom Type I Crusader during a parade that traveled 2 miles through the lake area before ending at the Split Rock Lodge, where its dedication took place.
The new ambulance is equipped with specialized extrication tools so the rescue squad can not only render emergency care, but begin to get a victim out of a vehicle if similarly equipped emergency vehicles have not yet arrived.
Lake Harmony resident Joyce Bradley served as chairwoman of the parade committee. Wendy Roeber, president of the squad, led the parade, riding in the Kidder Township police cruiser.
The vehicle cost the rescue squad $148,000.
