A landmark agreement between Lehigh Carbon Community College and the John E. Morgan Charitable Foundation was announced this morning by Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweitzer, who revealed construction of a new $4.75 million LCCC campus will take place on the site of the former Tamaqua Junior High School.

The governor said the new John and Dorothy Morgan Center for Higher Education will offer curriculum specifically tailored to the economic needs and job market for the Schuylkill-Carbon area, and that beginning with this year’s graduating class, Tamaqua Area High School graduates will be offered two-year scholarships to attend the campus and pursue a two-year associate degree at no cost.
