A look back: Dec. 1, 1998
The Lansford Concerned Citizens launched a new effort to recognize the good that people do by presenting its first community service award.
Bob Silver, speaking for the group, presented a plaque to the Lansford office management of Blue Ridge Cable Technologies. Accepting the award were Rose Marie Mikulski, office manager, and Lamar Semmel, Lansford field supervisor for the company.
Silver noted Blue Ridge over the years has aided the borough in maintaining traffic lights, aided the Lansford Improvement Association both at Kennedy Park and with downtown Christmas lighting displays, and have always been a major volunteer in all activities related to the downtown business district.
