A look back: Dec. 22, 1982
The landmark Necho Allen Hotel in downtown Pottsville will remain open as the property of the Miners National Bank of that city in the aftermath of a sheriff’s sale held Friday.
The hotel was sold to the bank, which submitted the only bid of $400, a price which was to cover the costs of the sale. The sale calls for the transfer of the hotel’s title from its owners, Necho Allen Hotel Inc., to the bank, which holds a $354,851.25 mortgage on the property.
Ronald T. Derenzo, an attorney representing the bank, said the hotel will remain open for permanent and transient residents, and continue to operate as it has in the past few months.
