A look back: Dec. 31, 1986
The Lansford Borough Council formally adopted its 1987 budget last night, with six members approving and one dissenting. The new spending plan calls for a 9-mill tax increase.
Councilman Louis Bales cast the lone negative vote. Questioned after the meeting, he said he had no comment other than he felt the borough could operate without increased taxation.
Approving the budget were Walter Slog, Leonard Alabovitz, William Knepper Jr., Bernard Ogozalek, Stanley Zwolenick and Masha Krajcirik, council president.
Broken down, the mills will be allocated as follows: 26 for the general fund, 4 for recreation, 8 for street lighting and 2 for fire.
