A look back: December 14, 1995

For one exciting evening last week, Marilyn Everett of Bowmanstown became Cinderella. The only thing missing were the glass slippers.

Her son, Conrad “Smokey” Everett, took her to an elaborate Christmas ball at the White House, which was attended by President Clinton. She got to pose for a photo with Bill and Hillary and shook hands with both of them.

“I was Cinderella,” she beamed. “I went from scrubbing floors and washing windows to the ball, then back to scrubbing floors and washing windows.”

“Smokey” Everett is a member of the Secret Service in charge of Chelsea Clinton’s security team.
