A look back: December 21, 1978

William C. Moser was elected captain of Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1, Lehighton, for 1979 during a reorganizational meeting.

Other officers will be Heinz W. Rausch, first lieutenant, and Wayne Nothstein, second lieutenant.

Lehighton Fire Chief Herman Solt and his assistant, Edward Conarty Jr., are appointed by the Lehighton Borough Council.

Named as equipment drivers are Ernest Long, Dean Andrew, Blaine Deppe, Larry Diehl, Gary Frable, David Kuhla, Carl Hunsicker, Mike Weber, Gerald Loran Sr. and Dwight Nothstein.

Paul Mriss will serve as president of the company’s social hall.
