A look back: December 8, 1997
About 30 veterans gathered at the World War II monument in Lehighton to hold a service in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day.
The main speaker was Scott Rehrig, vice president of borough council. Other participants included Mayor Wilbur Bauchspies; Ken Cahill, PA 2nd Vice Commander of the AMVETS; and Charles McHugh Jr., Carbon County director of Veterans Affairs.
Harry J. Wynn III, vice commander of the Lehighton United Veterans Organization, served as master of ceremonies and UVO Chaplain James Wentz asked the invocation and pronounced the benediction.
Roderick Hawley positioned the floral arrangement at the roll call.
