A look back: Feb. 12, 1973
The Lehigh Fire Company No. 1 Ambulance Association of Lehighton took delivery of its new 1973 Cadillac ambulance on Saturday morning.
The new unit, costing $21,993, replaces a 1967 model which logged 51,037 miles during its stay at Lehigh No. 1.
The new ambulance is powered by a 472-cubic-inch engine and features 54 inches of headroom and the latest system of piped oxygen on board. It is fully equipped with the latest emergency warning systems, including an electronic siren and an electric search and spotlight on the front roof.
Proceeds from the annual membership fund will pay for the new vehicle.
